John N. Poulos
John leads the real estate and land use team in the New York and New Jersey offices. He has experience in short sales, CEMAs, EMAs, 1031 Exchanges and commercial and residential real-estate transactions. He has also successfully litigated breach of contract actions related to breach of real estate contracts.
Prior to co-founding Poulos LoPiccolo PC, John was an associate with the prestigious Manhattan law firm of Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP. John worked at Hughes Hubbard for nearly 15 years where he was a paralegal, managing attorney’s clerk and then an associate for 10 years and played a key role in the unwinding of Lehman Brothers Inc. after Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy in September 2008. He currently represents purchasers and sellers as well as banks including First Republic Bank.
John graduated from New York University in 1998 with a B.A. in Political Science. At NYU, he received the CAS merit scholarship. In 2001, he graduated from Brooklyn Law School and was a Richardson Merit Scholar. In 2009 – 2010, he was selected as a Rising Star, Super Lawyer in New Jersey and in 2012, was appointed by the Honorable David F. Bauman a contract arbitrator with the Monmouth County Superior Court.
Joseph LoPiccolo
Joe co-leads the real estate team in New York. He has experience in CEMAs, EMAs and residential real, estate transactions. During his career, Joe has worked extensively on some of the largest and complex litigations in history.
Prior to co-founding Poulos LoPiccolo, Joe was an associate with the prestigious Manhattan law firm of Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP and most notably led the claims process in the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers Inc. where he handled over $ 1 billion in claims related to complex financial transactions.
Joe is a 2003 cum laude graduate of St. John's University School of Law, where he was a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute Law Review, and received his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Towson University in 2000. He was recently selected in 2014 and 2015 as a Rising Star, Super Lawyer in New York and New Jersey.
Jason Timmerman
Jason is an associate at Poulos LoPiccolo PC. Jason has handled numerous foreclosure matters and specializes in foreclosure mediations.
Prior to joining Poulos LoPiccolo PC as an associate, Mr. Timmerman served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Michael A. Guadagno in the New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division. He also was an associate with a foreclosure defense and bankruptcy firm. While working at his previous firm, Mr. Timmerman concentrated on defending clients in several foreclosure matters and Mr. Timmerman successfully negotiated settlements for clients that resulted in the foreclosure actions being dropped and the clients remaining in their homes under a revised mortgage payment schedule.
Mr. Timmerman is a 2012 graduate of Penn State University, Dickinson School of Law, where he was a Senior Editor of the Penn State Law Review. He was also a member of Penn State Law’s National ABA Appellate Moot Court team, where he represented the school by advancing to the semi-finals of the American Bar Association National Competition. For his achievements during his educational career, he was honored with a selection to the Order of Barristers. Mr. Timmerman also served as a student body elected representative of the Student Bar Association, the lead student representative for Kaplan PMBR and the Treasurer of the Penn St. Law Chapter of the American Constitution Society. Mr. Timmerman completed his undergraduate studies at Rowan University.
Dolores Mendez
Dolores Mendez is the head real estate paralegal at Poulos LoPiccolo PC. Dolores has over 15 years’ experience in New York and New Jersey real estate transactions during which time she has handled over 7,000 real estate closings for financial institutions and private purchasers and sellers. Dolores also handles bank closings for First Republic Bank which involve CEMAs, EMAs, reviewing of title, clearing exceptions to title, drafting POAs and communicating with client’s and scheduling closings.
Dolores has a B.A. from Hofstra University where she majored in Political Science and English and is a New Jersey and New York notary.
